Take Action: Tell Congress to Stop Federal Funding of Religious Schools

This Wednesday, March 30, the U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on H.R. 471, the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results Act. This legislation would reauthorize and expand the Washington, D.C. federal private school voucher pilot program, under which millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars are funneled toward private religious schools that preach religious dogma and can discriminate against staff and students.
Tell U.S. House to Support Darwin Day!
U.S. Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) announced today the introduction of H. Res. 81, calling for the designation of Feb. 12, 2011, as Darwin Day in order to recognize the work of Charles Darwin and the importance of science in the advancement of humanity.
Legislation to Reaffirm "In God We Trust" Motto Introduced
House Representatives have recently introduced a resolution reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the official motto of the United States and supporting and encouraging the public display of the national motto in all public buildings, public schools, and other government institutions. The resolution (H.Con.Res.13) is co-sponsored by Rep. Spencer Bachus (R, AL-6) and was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary on January 26, 2011.
